A Pool of Trainers on Risk Management and Drug Search Established
Ashgabat – International Organization for Migration (IOM) organized a four-day training-of-trainers on risk management and drug search for the regional level representatives of the relevant law enforcement agencies of Turkmenistan. This activity has been organized within the programme “Technical Cooperation and Border Management” funded by US Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
Dr. Zaza Berozashvili, International Expert trained the regional level teaching staff of the relevant law enforcement agencies of Turkmenistan. A number of presentations and practical works in small groups focusing on transnational and transborder organized crime, modern tools and techniques of risk management and drug search, latest trends in drug trafficking, the importance of risk management at border crossing points were delivered and organized in an interactive way. The participants were made aware of the growing threat associated with the drug trafficking and illegal trade in psychoactive substances and precursors chemicals.
The group became familiar with new-sophisticated methods used by organized crimes groups to sell, manufacture or transport narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and precursors. Practical works in small groups helped to strengthen new analytical and investigative skills that are proved effective in combatting transnational organized crime and dismantling drug trafficking networks.
As a result of the training-of-trainers, a pool of regional level trainers strengthened their knowledge and skills on risk management and drug search. The trainers were also equipped with adult teaching techniques that are extremely important for the effective dissemination of knowledge and skills. It is expected that the certified trainers will organize the similar trainings for other relevant officers serving at the state border crossing points across the country.
