The International Organization for Migration, together with the Eurasia Foundation and USAID, held a seminar to strengthen the capacity of young people
Ashgabat, 3 June 2022 – The International Organization for Migration in Turkmenistan (IOM) in partnership with the Eurasia Foundation (EF) under the Social Innovation in Central Asia (SICA) program supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) held a one-day workshop entitled "Project Design and Management".
The seminar was organized for representatives of active youth who had previously successfully participated in the competition of youth project ideas in April this year. In addition, mentors from among experienced employees of public organizations and associations of Turkmenistan took part in the seminar.
The main purpose of the event was to assist in the formation of skills and knowledge among young people for the preparation and promotion of socially oriented projects aimed at developing the well-being of local communities. In particular, key aspects of project development were considered, including management and monitoring of activities. At the same time, the purpose of the seminar was to motivate the development of leadership and volunteer qualities.
“At the seminar, we tried to give information about the stages of project implementation. I liked the interest of the audience, their participation in discussions, and the desire to learn from successful experience. Especially, young people were interested in the ideas of environmental protection, ecology, development of the tourism sector, healthy lifestyle, IT solutions. In general, our goal was to give them the knowledge to develop their ideas to further contribute to a healthy lifestyle,” commented Maya Meretkulieva, workshop trainer.
“I would like to note that the content of the seminar was intense for one day. It is very important for us to see the entire chain of building activities to achieve the intended goal. Today I learned about the roadmap, project management tools, budgeting,” said a participant in the seminar - Maral Dzhumadurdeva.
“It was a very educational and informative seminar. I learned a lot from experienced trainers who willingly shared their experience. I have expanded my horizons regarding the planning of activities. If possible, I suggest holding such seminars on a regular basis. Now it will be much easier for me to develop a project for participation in the Youth Leadership Grants competition, said Shabibi Osmanova, a young participant.
