Increasing the Capacity of NGOs in Conducting Informational and Education Campaigns on Human Trafficking Through Innovative Approaches Such as Online and Mobile Technologies
Ashgabat –The Mission of International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Turkmenistan conducted successive 2-day training on “Innovative approaches to informational and educational campaigns through new online and mobile tools” within the regional project on combatting human trafficking, funded by USAID. The training focused on enhancing the capacity of NGOs and public organizations through the familiarization with new innovative approaches, as well as enhancing their knowledge, skills and practices in the field of online and mobile technologies. Particular emphasis was placed on learning the best practices of CIS and Eastern European countries in conducting information and education campaigns with the help of internet and mobile technologies. The training brought together the representatives of NGOs and public organizations from the regions (velayats) of the country as well as from Ashgabat.
Mr. Dmitriy Tuzhanski, the experienced international trainer, specialized on Information Communication Technology technologies was invited from to conduct the training.
The training was aimed to review the world trends on the new online and mobile technologies such as information and communication technologies, crowdsourcing and social marketing, as well as new possibilities of their application in the work of non-governmental organizations.
It is very important to note that the training was conducted in an interactive manner involving the participants in the discussions, working groups and role-plays. During the training, each participant had an opportunity to be acquainted with the provided materials and practice new ways of working such as drawing infographics, ways of improvement of existing NGO websites using internet platforms: Tilda, Inforgram, Medium and Telescope. In the training course participants were divided into working groups and had the opportunity to share their own experience on using the internet technologies. Then after receiving the practical tips on effective work of NGOs using the internet and mobile technologies, each group had brainstorming on content development plans under the chosen idea to conduct awareness raising and educational campaigns and presented their projects. In this regard, the trainer and other participants provided recommendations on how to improve the presented projects. At the end of the training, the representatives of NGOs and public organizations exchanged the views on the training noting that it was very interesting and useful and expressed their appreciation to the trainer for his dedicated work.
